Think Giant.

Our last wedding video tip is all about integrating your style and story into your wedding video.  I’m sure you don’t want your wedding video to be a copycat of all the others you’ve seen.  After all, this one is about you!  As such, it should reflect your style and personality.  Here are some tips to ensure that your wedding video is unique to you:

1.  Find out your style. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the fairy tale-princess-slow motion wedding, and 10 being the rocker-MTV wedding, where would you rate yourself?  Every bride pictures how they want their wedding to be.  If you can see it clearly in your mind, that will help you know what your style is.

2.  Meet and Communicate with your videographer. Wedding planning can be crazy and busy. In this age of cell phones, email, and the internet, it’s so much easier to plan everything online or over the phone without having to drive all over the place meeting with people.  But there’s no better way to convey your style and personality to your videographer than meeting with them in person.  If we can get a better sense of who you are, then that’s going to come out in the video.  Don’t be afraid to mention specific things you want (or don’t want) in the video.

3. Music. We discussed this in length a couple weeks ago, but we’ll mention it again briefly here.  The music sets the tone for the video.  So once you’ve found out your style, make sure your music selection matches that.

4.  Date/Love Story Film. We love to do the date and love story films.  They’re fun and casual and much more effective at bringing out your style.  They showcase the spark between you two as a couple.  If you’re unsure about which one is right for you, you can read an earlier post here discussing the differences and how to choose between the two.  Below is a great love story we did that captured the couple’s personality:

This was a really fun wedding to do because it was for my sister in law, Aprill.  She and Alex were so happy the whole time and had a lot of fun.  It was a little odd having to try and be in the pictures and take video, but it all worked out.  Hope you enjoy it!

Another hot day in July at the Salt Lake Temple, but we still had a great time shooting Jessica and Paul’s temple film.  They have a lot of family and support which will help them throughout their marriage I’m sure.  Congratulations Jessica and Paul!

I’ve done a few dates at Liberty Park, but I haven’t had any couple play at their tennis center before.  These guys are some mean tennis players!  They had a lot of fun playing each other, and also riding a tandem bike around.  Today is also their wedding day, so I’ll be posting their temple film too as well.  Hope you enjoy it!

I really enjoyed working with Stacie and Justin, and they’ve got a great love story, complete with a skydiving proposal.  And they made me try sushi for the first time.  Not bad.  I hope you enjoy their love story, their prewedding film at the Draper Temple will be posted later this week.

As promised, here is Brittany and James’ love story.  Quite different from Elena and Victor’s, they dated slightly longer than 7 days–they actually dated all through high school.  They were great fun to work with.  I’ll hopefully have each of their temple films from their double wedding up soon.

Elena and Victor had an unusual dating relationship before they got engaged, in that it lasted for only a few days before he popped the question.  And apparently Facebook is a tool in getting people together these days, who knew?  So they had a fun love story to tell, and I had a great time putting it together.  Elena and her sister Brittany decided on a double wedding back in March, you can see the teaser for their temple films here.  I’ll be posting Brittany & James’ love story later this week.

Filming Whitney & Steve’s love story gave Spencer and I the opportunity to visit Logan, Utah,  a place we haven’t been to since we were in college, which has been at least 10 years (holy crap we’re getting old).  First of all, it was so much fun to be there, and remember the college days and to see the Utah State campus again.  We really had a good time with Whitney and Steve too, just running around the Quad, or filming them riding tandem bikes (Spencer hung out of the trunk while I drove).  They are getting married on May 15 in the Salt Lake Temple, and I will be posting that next week, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoy their love story!
